I recently had all four wisdom teeth removed at this office. The surgery itself went smoothly; Dr. Grubb and his medical team were competent and attentive. However, I was told pre-op that recovery would only take 2-3 days after the anesthesia wore off. Recovery was extremely painful and it took a full 2 weeks to heal and be able to resume normal life activities. After doing research and asking multiple people how their experiences were with wisdom teeth removal, it became clear that recovery taking up to 2 weeks is entirely normal, especially with impacted teeth (which mine were) because the surgery is more invasive and closer to the mandibular nerve. It would have been helpful for the office to be realistic about recovery time being variable depending on the patient/the situation. When I called the office in extreme pain 5 days post-op and asked how to manage the pain as I had run out of pain medication, I was told that I shouldn’t be experiencing pain at all and something must be wrong with my healing process (which I knew wasn’t the case as there were no signs of infection and I was doing everything I was told to do post-op). Multiple interactions with the front-desk staff were unpleasant; I was often spoken to in a rude and impatient manner when asking simple questions. Overall there is room for improvement in terms of clear communication, customer service, and patient care.

Dr.Grubb and his team were amazing! They made my daughter and I both both feel at ease. So Friendly and knowledgeable. I really can’t say enough good things about our entire experience. We will definitely be going back there when it’s time for my son to have a procedure.

Not only did they “forget” to bill our health insurance company (even though they filed a claim twice) they overcharged us $593.00 out of pocket then sent a bill for another $100!! After numerous phone calls, I’m still waiting for my reimbursement check! Not to mention the fact that the office is outdated and dirty!! If we had gone in for a consultation before my son’s surgery, I never would have brought him back! I’m shocked he didn’t end up with a serious infection!

My daughter had her wisdom teeth (all 4) pulled on Jan. 24th, 2012 in Ellsworth Me. Dr. Grubb and the staff are absolutely awesome. The kept us informed of everything that they were doing or going to do. They’re very caring about the patients feelings and being nervous. She had very little swelling and very little bruising. After 5 days, my daughter experienced more discomfort in one of the surgery sites. I called the Ellsworth office and the got her right in. She ended up having a dry socket. After the first visit and they had to pack the site, my daughter was still in pain, I called again and the Ellsworth office was closed so the staff at the Bangor office got her right in, repacked the site, and after that visit, she started to feel better. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. I was so impressed with the staff and the doctors when my son had his wisdom teeth pulled about 4 years ago that is why I traveled the miles to have my daughters surgery done there too. Keep up the great work and awesome caring and bedside manners you all have.
