The worst customer service I have ever experienced from a professional, let alone doctor. I was a new patient who recently moved to the area, I went in for a basic cleaning an x ray. I found her through my insurance and really wish I did more research because all she’s done is cost me money and a headache. 1. The cleaning was the most painful cleaning I’ve ever received and I still don’t understand why because she made it a point to say my teeth were very clean and didn’t need much work. 2. She “has no time” to send me my x-ray. 3. She will not double check with insurance, she will have you do something then charge you. I had asked more than once, “before you take this x ray, does my insurance cover it?” I was reassured that it would. It honestly didn’t seem like I had a choice, the x ray seemed to be a requirement. I say that because after the x ray, the dentist wanted to send me home without a cleaning, HAHA. And the cleaning was 90% of why I went!! Anyways, I got the x ray taken but Dr. Sandra McNeal has now made those x rays pointless because she never sent them over. After leaving the dentist, I started having some issues with my teeth and thought it would be best to see another doctor asap. I called Dahlia Dental asking for them to send me my x rays. She told me she didn’t have the time to, she see’s hundreds of patients a day and to stop calling…. Place was empty when I went. I explained I was in pain, what was happening, and notified her of dentist appointment dates I needed them for. Needless to say, she has not sent me my x rays but had time to send me a bill for the x ray. It has been over a week and I still haven’t received my dental records, don’t think I ever will. I will definitely need to report this dentist. In the time that I’ve been waiting for this bitter dentist to send me my dental records, I have gotten 2 x rays from previous doctors sent over WITH NO ISSUE and saw another dentist Dr. Sandra McNeal - Please know that my teeth and my pain is your issue as a dentist. Your lack of staffing is not my issue, stop trying to make it mine. Terrible dentist, extremely rude and unprofessional. Note that all my interactions after the appointment were with the dentist, not an assistant or receptionist. Her assistant was very pleasant.

My Journey with Dentures from Dahlia Dental, Amsterdam N.Y: A Cautionary Tale Over five years ago, I began my journey with dentures. At the time, the dentist made a mold of my gums and had me return a few weeks later to pick up the finished set--both uppers and lowers. When I arrived, her assistant handed me the dentures to try on. Immediately, I noticed a problem: they didn’t fit at all. They were so loose that they kept falling out. The dentist came in, observed the poor fit, and pulled out some denture adhesive--Polygrip or something similar. She demonstrated how to apply the adhesive and sent me on my way. At that moment, I trusted her expertise, not knowing any better. It wasn’t until later that I learned dentures are supposed to fit properly without needing adhesive--at least not right away. Adhesive is typically only required years later as gums wear down or shrink. Shortly after, I went back to her and explained that I couldn’t eat properly unless I loaded the dentures with adhesive. She attempted to fix the problem by shaving the dentures down while I was there. However, she told me she couldn’t remove much more material, as it would make the dentures too fragile. That was the extent of her solution. Since that day, I’ve struggled immensely. I can’t eat more than one meal a day without the adhesive failing, which causes the dentures to come loose and make my gums sore. After years of this, I’ve resorted to wearing them only for cosmetic purposes. Even then, I need to use a significant amount of adhesive just to keep them in place. Wearing them for more than half a day leads to soreness and discomfort. I deeply regret using her services and have carried this frustration for years. To this day, I feel upset whenever I think about the experience. It’s particularly disheartening when I see others who have well-made dentures that fit comfortably. My mother-in-law, for instance, has a set that she simply puts in each morning--no adhesive needed. She can wear them all day without any issues eating or speaking. Seeing her experience made me realize how much I had been failed by my dentist. Now, I’ve retired and moved to Florida. I’m hoping my new insurance will cover the cost of a properly made pair of dentures. I refuse to go through the same ordeal again or let another dentist dismiss my concerns. I’m sharing this story to vent and to warn others about neglectful care of this dentist or any other. If you’re starting your own journey with dentures, please advocate for yourself and don’t settle for ill-fitting appliances. Someday, I hope my suffering will be alleviated, but until then, I remain frustrated by what I endured.

I cannot warn people enough to stay away from this establishment. I have been a client here for years and truly have had nothing but problems created by this dentist. She performed a root canal that was not completed properly, crowned my tooth and the tooth underneath began to decay. When I went back to her office to have her examine the tooth, she doubted all of my concerns and told me my pain could be from nerve damage? Do you mean nerve damage that you more than likely created? I had to go to a specialist because no local dentists would retreat a root canal that was already treated. She offered me NO help, actually she gave me referrals to specialists that my insurance does not even cover. It took me days to call from dentist to dentist to find one that would retreat my tooth. After this retreatment, I was told to go back to my dentist would be permanently cement my tooth on, with the old crown that did not work initially. This was a crown that did not fit my tooth any longer, had decay underneath, and she dropped onto the floor prior to re-attaching it into my mouth. From the day I had my initial root canal treatment which cost me over 1k from Dahlia, my tooth is not okay. I’m still facing issues due to her negligence and will have to go through yet another treatment to get this crown removed, and a new crown molded on. Dahlia Dental has cost me countless days of pain, several thousand dollars in bills from a single tooth. She does not care if your problem gets solved correctly. This was only the worst experience, not the only bad experience. Stay far away, and to the dentist - you really need to care about your patients more. This is not a good practice.

I went to a specific dentist for years, but had to find another dentist after mine retired. A friend of mine referred Dahlia Dental to me, and on my first visit, I found the entire staff to be so professional, comforting and caring. The office was extremely clean and neat. Dr. McNeal was very thorough and explains what she feels needs to be done. I walk out of all of my visits knowing that the best dentist did the work on my teeth. I will continue taking my entire family to Dahlia Dental.
