We have been patients of Dr. Boales for over 20 years.(four in my family). I went in this morning to have a simple cap glued back on. Immediately the assistant is trying to upsell me a root canal. Dr. Boales comes in and states he can clean up the base of the tooth, order a new cap and the procedure will cost $995. (no root canal needed). I said fine and they begin numbing the tooth. The assistant comes back in and states my insurance will cover 60% and I have to cover the rest out of pocket, I let them know not a problem. She states they need $250 upfront before they can proceed. For 20 years they have preformed work and have always sent me a bill for what the insurance didn't cover. I left the house without my credit card, so I called my wife to get them my credit card number. She picks up the call but is out for her morning walk. She lets me know she will call their office with the number when she gets back to the house. The assistant tells me she can't proceed without the $250 upfront. I again tell her my wife will be calling with the cc number before the procedure is completed. She told me to reschedule and come back when I have a credit card. I asked to speak to Dr. Boales, she said he was busy. I was told to get out of the chair and leave the office with my cap off after being numbed. This is how they treat a patient with a 20 year family history with Dr. Boales. Best of luck new patients.

The initial Invisalign treatment went well. Before the treatment was completely over, I moved to Memphis and needed my permanent retainer. It took over a month of those getting to me and I called several times to ask for an update on status. I have since then moved to Chattanooga and need a replacement retainer (dog ate it - seriously); I ordered and paid for on Jan. 15; office called me on Jan. 30 to verify my address for shipment and here it is Feb. 9 and I do not have the new retainer. I have called the office 4 days in a row now asking for shipment information and no one has returned my calls. Poor follow up when a problem occurs. UPDATE: I tried for the 5th time to call the office and get an update with no one returning my call. Gave up and asked my credit card company to get my money back which they did.

I actually enjoy going to the dentist now! Well, as much as one could.. From the moment you walk in the front door, the receptionist makes you feel welcome, and right at home. My dental hygienist is super gentle, and provides me with tips on how to improve my homecare, as well as encourages me to keep up the great work. I used to despise going to the Dentist. I honestly felt like some of them were mad, and taking it out on me. Now, I get my teeth well taken care of, have some laughs along the way, and don't come home with regret and pain. I have been a patient of Dr.Boales for years and here are reasons why I like the doctor and his staff: - They manage appointment time very well; I’ve never been waiting for more than 5 minutes. - They are very responsive, if I leave a message they always call back within a reasonable amount of time. - They are friendly and make sure that you are comfortable with the care you are receiving. - If you need any procedure they explain you the reason why it’s needed and how it’s done, and, if needed, provide you alternative ways taking care of the problem. - They are pretty accurate with estimates; I don’t remember having any discrepancies with insurance company.
