First time there for my daughter’s dental appointment. Appointment time was for 1:30pm. Arrived at 1:26pm.. checked in. Advised front desk of my daughter’s special needs once again as I already advised them over the phone. They had to revise what ASD actually meant and told me that if the dentist is unable to assist then they would refer me to a different dentist. We waited until 2:30pm then finally our name was called. Mind you there were only 2 families waiting after us in the lobby so it didn’t seem so busy for such a long wait. We then walked into the room and was told to wait again for the dentist. Dentist finally enters at 2:55pm. My daughter needed xrays but we were told that in order to do the xrays I would have to leave the room and have her sit there alone. If anyone is aware of ASD being left alone and unsupervised could be interesting. Mind you shes only 6 years old and non verbal. Yea shes not being left alone anywhere while im on this earth. I explained again my daughter’s condition and they said that’s the only way to do it. So we couldn’t go through with it as my daughter after all the waiting became very antsy. They tried placing a red mouth piece with a black tape on it for the xray but the biting down part my daughter couldn’t do for long for the xray. Noticing that the plastic red object placed in my daughter’s mouth had bite marks from previous patients and with now plastic cover for protection. Not sure it that’s normal but I will definitely find out. After all they exam her teeth all was well and was provided a referral to a pediatric dentist. Appointment was really a waste of time and time wasted from school. If you have a child and one with special needs use our experience as an example and look around a little longer for the right place. This place wasn’t it and we will definitely not go there again. I felt the need to submit this review to advocate the need for more services available for kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We shouldn’t have to go through all the scheduling of appointments to end up not receiving the proper care we would hope for or to show up and the health professionals not knowing how to address certain patients. If there is an issue with shortage of staff then you might just have to have a meeting with scheduling and have them schedule appointments accordingly so that the service is rendered professionally and in a timely manner. Looking into the red mouth piece object now too because something tells me we shouldn’t be sharing bite marks from others. Idk but I will for sure find out. If I could give zero stars I would. Sorry but hopefully your establishment sees this and maybe just maybe there are improvements in store for your future patients.
