Sarah, our dental hygienist will not let plaque co-exsist. She will energetically scrape and decay does not escape. Our teeth north and south feel happy in our mouths. At Northwest Dental, Dr. Smart pinpoints cavities before they start. His office is homey, it’s an art to make dental appointments almost fun. Like a lodestar Ann is the one that will set the date and keep you straight. If you need to cancel, there’s no hate. Sometimes I may talk too much. Sarah waits with such grace and humor l never feel that l am maybe being a bit of a heel. Northwest Dental is the only place to go for those teeth in your face.

I’d like to share a bad experience I had with Dr. Smart’s office. My appointment at this office was scheduled for October 31, 2023, at 8:00 am. Upon my arrival, I was informed that the rate they had previously confirmed was incorrect, and the new rate was higher. They should have respected my time and informed me before my early morning appointment. When I inquired about the possibility of insurance covering the additional cost, they were unsure. They suggested I cancel my appointment until they could send a quote to the insurance to determine what would be covered. They assured me that they would inform me about the new cost before the next appointment. A new appointment was set for November 14th (two weeks later), providing sufficient time to communicate with the insurance. They were supposed to call me within a couple of days, or at most a week, after the first appointment to inform me about the insurance coverage. However, they sent me an email on November 13th, less than 24 hours before the next appointment on November 14, regarding the insurance coverage. The coverage was not as much as expected, and I was unable to pay for the proposed bill. Therefore, I requested them to cancel the appointment, but they charged me a $75 cancellation fee. I explained to them that they were supposed to call me earlier so I could make a decision (as that was the main reason I declined treatment on October 31). Despite my explanation, they insisted on the fee. I told them that my family and I have been patients of this office for a long time and this is not a professional behavior with such a costumer. I told them if they received a late response from the insurance, it is not my fault (which I don’t believe happened since I had several communications with the insurance, and they typically respond in 2-3 business days). I told them that if they still insisted on charging me for cancellation, I would pay it; however, I would cancel all my future appointments with them and never seek treatment from them again. Surprisingly, they again asked for a cancellation fee, which I paid. I was upset with their behavior and felt that their delay in notifying me was intentional to prevent me from canceling. The behavior of the front desk staff was unprofessional. Although we had heard about their unprofessional behavior, we didn’t believe it until they treated us in this manner. Therefore, I CAN NOT RECOMMEND them for any treatment. They don’t respect people and their time; instead, it seems they are seeking to charge you for no reason.

Dr. Smart and his team are truly phenomenal. They are extremely kind, caring and patient, especially with me and my anxiety. Everything is explained and you know you’re in great hands when you are there. Thank you Dr Smart and team - you make going to the dentist so much more bearable.

I am super-pleased with the services at Dr. Smart’s office . . . every time I go to my appointments. Kristen, dental assistant is super! She really pays attention to detail and helps me improve my own dental care. I love the way I am always included in the decision-making processes about my dental care. Dr. Smart is fabulous. He is very informative. I cannot leave office manager Ann out of this review as she has always been wonderful, helpful, and so courteous. What a team!
