My regular dentist for my whole family for 3 years. Everything has been excellent. The staff is friendly and responsive. Everything has been great.

We went to this dentist when we lived in Oak Park. Went for a regular check up and cleaning and, for some weird reason while cleaning my teeth, the dentist started sanding one of my incisors. I asked her what she was doing and she said, "You have ridges and I’m straightening that." I asked her to stop as there had never been a problem! The result? My right incisor was sanded and is now shorter than my left one. So, thank you very much. I have uneven teeth. Worse, so much enamel was removed that my right incisor is has been discolored from drinks like coffee and etc. over the years. My husband wanted me to sue them, but I didn’t because, when it happened, my teeth were still white and I am not litigious. The problems started a few years later. Why would a dentist start sawing away at your teeth without advising what she wants to do and getting your permission? There is something wrong with to have just let it go like that and just decided to never go back. She got away with disfiguring me with a lesser smile and now a discolored tooth. AWFUL DENTIST!

I have been seeing Dr. Velarde for many years now, starting after I had major problems with another dentist. She is very gentle and doesn’t rush through procedures. She was also focused on saving some teeth I had major problems with, as opposed to just wanting to rip them out like another dentist.

I moved from Bay area to Oak Park in January. I was looking for a dentist for my whole family. And I had some inflammation around my dental bridge(which was done 6 years ago)for which I needed treatment. I went to Dr.Cristina Velarde office since her office is located close to my place and also I did not want to travel because of the COVID situation. I found this place on Yelp. I went for my first appointment and waited outside for 15 minutes and for the other 2 appointments she came late as well. If it is once then it is okay but if it is every time then that needs a fix. Coming to the treatment, I had some pus formation and inflammation around the dental bridge area which I explained to her. And she did a evaluation and took some 5 x-rays and prescribed me penicillin and scheduled for next visit. And for my second visit(2 weeks after), she did some procedure which I thought will resolve the inflammation and my tooth issue and she said she addressed the issue. And she scheduled my third appointment(a week after second) for regular cleaning, and she came very very late and I was not able to wait since I had to pick up my daughter from her daycare. And after couple of weeks I had the same inflammation issue, and this time I visited another doctor in Westlake village. He was quickly able to see the issue. There was some bone/cement/tooth, particle kind of remnant from my last root canal, trying to come to the surface from under the dental bridge. And he removed the particle on the same day and without any prescription medication. And the issue is resolved. I do not have any issues now. And I paid just 1/4 of what I paid to Dr. Velarde’s treatment who was not able see what is causing the problem at all. I have one of the best dental insurance plans. I would have given 0 star if I had that option here. Poor service. Poor treatment. And I have never written any review. And Oak Park family dentistry made me write one. Please stay away from this place. They only care to extract all your money.

Cristina is so gentle and expert. She’s been taking care of our entire family and some of our employees for two decades. Somehow, she manages to keep my teeth healthy and looking good through all the abuse I put them through! She’s awesome!!!
