Dr. Hartz is very blunt and confident, which works well for some, but it in our case, it was just stubbornness. She told us our newborn was “acting like a baby” but in realty he was suffering from food allergies and severe reflux, which we later had to treat. Missing that is excusable, but she was not only wrong, but incredibly condescending about it. Must be easy to be a pediatrician when you are convinced young parents are just ignorant and nothing can ever be wrong. Not only that, but we had a short lag between insurance companies, and for whatever reason the payments weren’t connecting. Instead of dealing with it in private, she berated my postpartum wife in front of the waiting room. Keep in mind, this event happened 6 years ago, and the only reason I am writing this now is because it has stuck with us for so long. To anyone that cares to read this, you know your child better than anyone, even your doctor, if you think something is off, don’t take no for an answer.
