I don’t think I’ve ever left a Google review before, but this is one of the worst experiences I have ever had at ANY business. I have been going to Dr. Runco for a few years now because he takes my dad’s insurance. Throughout that time, the service has been fine. Never stellar, rarely awful, just fine. Boy oh boy, this changed! In June of 2021, I had an appointment where I brought up a chip in an old porcelain filling of mine. I could feel it with my tongue and was sure it was there. Dr. Runco took a quick look and told me I was wrong. Over the next year, I continued to experience minor pain from the chip. At my appointment the following summer, I brought it up again and he confirmed that I did have a chip—a full year later. I was scheduled for a filling, cancelled on the morning of, rescheduled, cancelled on again—on the THIRD TRY I managed to get in sometime in the fall. The chip in my filling was small. I truly believe it could have been patched. Instead, Runco shot me with lidocaine (without warning) and completely re-did my filling. He was quick, but I was given a SILVER FILLING in the year 2022. Even immediately after the filling, the area of the former chip felt exposed and sensitive. Over the past few months, the filling has practically eroded in my mouth. The chip is still there, but now my entire tooth feels like one big exposed nerve. I am in extreme pain to a point where I can’t even drink water. I have to get an emergency restoration. Avoid this dentist like the plague. Fillings are a routine procedure and mine was botched beyond belief.

I generally don’t leave bad reviews, but this experience was just terrible. I had some tooth pain and hadn’t been to the dentist since the pandemic. Went to Dr. Runco and he asked which tooth hurt. I told him which one, he took an X-ray and found a small cavity on the outside of the tooth. Without telling me anything he stuck a piece of gauze in my mouth, then proceeded to give me 3 injections. Then without a word he drilled the tooth and filled it with a silver filling. He then told me it would hurt for a couple days and to make an appointment for a cleaning. I was completely numb for hours and when feeling finally came back I kept finding pieces of the filling in my mouth. For a week the pain never went away. Then the entire filling fell out. I called and got back in the next morning. Dr. Runco decided to take another X-ray. I have a sensitive gag-reflex and it is hard for me to hold the film in my mouth for more than a couple seconds. I warn dentists about this at the onset. Dr. Runco tried to get it, then shot me up with more injections to get the X-ray. He got it and said I need to have a root canal and tried to send me on my way. I had to remind him that I don’t have a filling in the hole he drilled a week ago, so he put a temporary filling in and said to come back after the root canal. I went to a good endodontist who couldn’t figure out why I was there as I don’t need a root canal. She did say that the silver filling that Dr. Runco put in was the incorrect type of filling for where that cavity was. Then I went to a competent dentist to get the temporary filling fixed. He found a very large cavity IN THE SAME TOOTH that Dr. Runco had completely missed. If I had visited the competent dentist first, it would have saved me 3 other dental visits and a lot of pain. Skip Runco. Go to a real dentist.

I was having toothpain. I had a cavity, I needed a scaling done. This dentist did nothing but polished my teeth and said they were perfect. Then fraudulently billed my insurance company stating all my work was done. I had to wait to see another dentist because this dentist is a scam artist.

I will rate Zero star if Google allows me. Stay away from this unskilled, unethical dentist. I went to do simple filling. It was done in less than five minutes and he used the cheapest black material. Even worse, his careless operation damaged my teeth and I had to do root canal treatment. I confirmed with two dentists at UMPC Dental School, it was very clear he made it, but he didn’t admit it. I should sue you.

I wish I read Carlie Singers review before scheduling my appointment. The so called dentist Runco spent about 3 minutes cleaning my teeth. It was quicker than I spend flossing and brushing. I’m certain it did nothing for my dental health. I complained to the dentist and he said if I don’t like it go somewhere else. That’s the advice I would give to anyone considering making an appointment with this guy. He is incompetent and should not be practicing. He’s a threat to your dental health.
