This place is an absolute scam, they made bogus claims to your insurance, do not go there, call the police, because I did, was referred to PA state attorney general, which is occuring. Goodbye emmert dental, fraud POS. You can scam old ladies, but not me. It’s the dentist carnivale, he’s the lying fraud, and I got the proof.

I regret so much for visiting this dental office. Please read the reviews here and avoid this place. Not clean, unethical practice, and rude attitude. (An update: My filling chipped the day after my visit. I had to go to another dentist to get it fixed. Manager Michele reached out to me later and helped solve some of the problems, e.g., giving me a partial refund. She is very nice and helpful. But I won’t go back to the office.) I had to find a new dentist because I had a new insurance. I found this place because it’s close to me. I visited them last week for teeth cleaning. The office is not clean but it was packed with patients. The doctor (Carnevali) told me that I have one cavity on the top back and two minor cavities at the bottom back. He also suggested to replace an existing crown and replacing a filling on a front tooth. I wanted to get it treated soon so I went back yesterday. When I showed up yesterday, Dr. Carnevali came to me and told me that I have two cavities on top (he told me one last week) and one of them needed a root canal. I was shocked because that was different from what he said last week. The cavity on the picture did not look bad but he insisted that it’s a deep cavity. I was nervous about root canal and I told him that I wanted to avoid root canal if possible. After hearing that, he was very impatient the whole time especially during the procedure. I ended up having 3 fillings (two on the top back and one replacement of a previous filling on front), no root canal. Uncomfortable procedure. He told me that I might need to come back for root canal if the filling bothers me. After it’s done, I told Dr. Carnevali that the new filling on my front tooth was not smooth. He did not care at all and insisted that it’s good enough and he can’t do anything else. He didn’t even care to look at it. Then they charged me for 3 "pulp caps" on top of the charges of 3 fillings and said it’s because the fillings are deep. That was nonsense because two of the fillings are very small (on the surface). I suspect that they were not even needed because he didn’t mention it last week. The receptionist was rude as well. Now I’m very nervous because I don’t know if he did any damage to my teeth. The doctor is not reliable at all. He clearly doesn’t care about patients. It’s been a day and my upper lip is still paralyzed from anesthesia. I also worry about the bills that they will send me. I completely agree with other reviews that this place is all about recommending root canals even if they are not needed. They don’t care about patients’ wellness or feelings. They CANNOT be trusted. They also have hidden charges that you never know.

I visited for a cleaning as a first time patient. The hygienist was very aggressive in cleaning and did not give me protective gear for isolated x-rays which was very concerning. The dentist came in to do the exam and told me I had a broken tooth which would require a root canal and crown due to a deep cavity that had formed. He also said the decay had spread to the tooth next to it and therefore I needed two root canals, and two crowns. He also said I needed a deep gum cleaning that would be an additional charge outside of the regular cleaning. I went in to a different dentist for a second opinion through the university of Pittsburgh, was told that I had no nerve damage and would not need a root canal, and that the decay had not infected spread to the tooth next to it. Unlike Emmert, they did tests to see if the nerve was still viable in my tooth before proceeding with a recommendation for course of action. I would not recommend anyone going and getting serious dental work done without a second opinion

Avoid this place like the plauge. They will try and pressure you into getting root canal or expensive treatment that is not necessary to make more money. Have you ever seen a dentist in basketball shorts before? That’s how they dress here, so professional.

Had several root canals that didn’t need to be done. Dentist used a big post cracked my nerve root... had to end up getting the tooth removed by a different dentist. How is there not a lawsuit against this practice by now. They are still open?
