Our family has used this office for 20+ years. We loved Dr. Davenport and his staff, but since he passed away, old staff has left, and new staff has come in things are not the same. Justin Bishop is kind and we have had good experiences with him. Without saying too much I would not recommend Paul Bishop, especially for pediatric dentistry. He was very verbally abrasive with my daughter recently. She’s a teenager and I get it they can be sassy but as a provider you’re expected to have a certain level of empathy and respect for all patients. His bedside manner fell short of that, and I don’t believe he would have spoken to her the way he did had I been present that day! I called and asked the manager to give me a call, she never called. I waited a week then just went to the office to speak with her. When I went to the practice to speak to the officer manager about it she apologized and said she believed what I was telling her-but her apology seemed cold and was not enough to keep my family in the practice.

I can’t recommend this dentist office. After a great start with quick service and great care from the nurse we then waited for 50 minutes until the doctor came to see us. All he did was poke around my son’s mouth for 30 seconds and said yep all good. I had to go out in the hall and ask if the doctor was going to be able to see us before he ever came.

Current staff members are not living up to Dr. Davenport’s legacy. They are inefficient, if not downright rude. Office manager cannot participate in difficult conversations without becoming overly upset. Staff members are unable to accurately check insurance policies. Current dentist is unable to do simple procedures in-house. Highly recommend seeking Care at other facilities.

Been coming here for years and years, just been away for the last 4 of them to come back to Decatur only to find things have changed. So, they were going to do a bridge for me, after taking two teeth out. I went 6 times but all I ever got done was the 2 teeth removed. I go into ’get my teeth scanned" which turned out to be ’get my teeth shaved down for a bridge’ which is several hours long and requires you to be put under. I didn’t have a ride, and wasn’t properly informed but I said the heck with it, so they gave me the laughing gas tube. Trying to breathe through my nose, I realize the gas isn’t even on, so I left it gently just off my nose to wait til I hear or feel the gas. Them after a couple minutes she goes ’..is that too much gas?’ I say, ’no...it’s not on yet...’ NOW - when I first said this it didn’t immediately spook me, but when I realized the lady that was supposed to give me the gas didn’t even know if the bottle was turned on....I got spooked pretty good, said I needed to reschedule...and left. Now afterwards I felt bad about it right? I have PTSD from combat in Iraq and Afghanistan so I some times get a little weird in situations that maybe didn’t need me getting alarmed like that. So I call them a couple hours later to reschedule....now the receptionist puts me on hold for a while and comes on and says ’we will have to call you later to decide if we are gonna reschedule or not’ - lol. Yeah, 5 visits and a few hundred bucks at their office, and all they did was send me down the street once to get two teeth removed by their buddy shop down the street? I would call that a win for them for sure. I remember when this place said nix on it at one time. That was a long time ago. No soul, no honesty, nothing southern about the place really...and that’ll be it’s end like all the ungrateful places around here that don’t see the issue with treating the only people left that are coming to y’all well. It’s a common trope in Decatur area when new blood inherits old tried and true established places of hard work and personable people.
