Dr. Janie L. Boyesen, DDS

Went to see them a few months back and Dr. Boyesen advised me that I’d should get Lanap done before my other dental work. So I have been waiting for this appointment which was today. Originally I was given pricing options 1/2 mouth and full mouth with general anesthetic. I booked 1/2 mouth which was about 30 days out. During those 30 days I got a notice from Cigna that Dr. Boyesen was going to be soon out of network. I also changed my mind and decided to do local anesthetic. I wanted to also book the 2nd appointment for January when insurance would kick in again. So I called the office and the gentlemen told me someone would call me back to discuss. He also said he didn’t think I could wait until January for the second 1/2 of the mouth. So I wait a week, no call. I call the office again and again, leave two voicemails. I then get a call from Dr. Boyesen’s office that goes to voicemail, not for me but a patient called John C regarding his X-Rays. Great... I call the office again this time getting a live person who promises me a call back. I wait two more business days. No call back. I call again, and the person on the other end promises to send me an email with the revised costs for local, promises that booking the 2nd half for January is perfectly fine, and changes to procedure to local anesthetic. I get the email, "The original estimate was higher due to the anesthesia AND because your maximum would be used entirely with just 2 quadrants." Good. I have to email and call again to get the price because it was for some reason left out of the email. The out of pocket is $900 less then before due to what they said in the email. So I thought... I get to the procedure today, 9am. I’m told the cost is $900 more than the price from two days ago and the same cost as the original quote. So, after no response from the finance person for two weeks after 4-5 emails, multiple voicemails, confidential other patient info left on my voicemail, I get there and they hijack me with this. I immediately start wondering whether the other information about being able to wait until January for the next appointment is correct. I felt like it was a trap. It felt like an expensive way to be treated like cattle. They didn’t honor the price from the last five days, they blamed me for not expected the same price as the original when I was now getting less done... even though they just quoted me 2 days ago (and again, that was like pulling teeth - not literally). I ran.... Now I need to start the process all over again... don’t go here, these people don’t care.

I had an absolutely amazing experience at Dr. Boyesen’s office. From the front desk to the dental assistants’ to Dr. Boyesen herself! The most painful part of it was MY dental insurance didn’t cover the service I was getting, that’s no their doing. They worked with me which we really appreciated. They are very personable, remembering my nickname. something my MIL couldn’t do in 17 years lol I’ve had the unfortunate experience of visiting my fair share of dentist and dental care and I am pleasantly surprise.

I wish I didn’t feel so compelled to write this review but felt it would save others who are looking for a Periodontist. My insurance was the primary reason for trying this office and secondary reason was a referral from my terrific dentist. Two interactions with Dr. Boyesen left me more confused and questioning her actual capabilities. She comes off sternly and over-confident but my take away is she is not as skilled or she’s super selective on what she wants to address. Dr Boyesen has a very gruff chair side demeanor so if you want a warm a fuzzy doctor, she would not be a good fit. I wish I had a chance to view more recent reviews for this office before wasting my money here. I hope this review will allow future folks to consider with caution.

Talk about exceptional care! Many offices can take note of the wonderful care that Dr. Janie Boyesen and her team provides. From ease of scheduling, to text confirmations, to feeling nothing during the injection the whole experience was top notch. Thank you so much!

I’m a dentist as well. When I was looking for treatment for my mother, I wanted her to go to the best. That’s why I sent her to have a consultation with Dr. Boyeson. Not only did she spend almost an entire extra hour explaining the procedure to my mother, she was the most attentive and caring dental professional my mother said she’s ever been to. My mother is extremely vocal and a tough cookie to please. The fact that my mother could not stop raving about Dr. Boyeson just goes to show you how fantastic her chair side manner is! Dr. Boyeson’s credentials and clinical skill are better than anyone else in the area. But it’s her gentleness and incredible chair side manner and commitment to taking care of my mother as if she were her own -- that’s absolutely the best reason I would choose her for any procedure. Could not be more grateful to Dr. Boyeson and her office!!!
