In my opinion, Dr. Gregory Thomas, DDS MD in the Arkes Building on the Northwestern Medicine Campus, is excellent. I could end it here, but I’d rather say why. I had to get a tooth pulled that has given me issues for years. About 15 to 20 yrs after it was root canaled and capped because I had repeat infections in the bones. I saw NWM endodontist Dr. Samir Patel. He broke the bad news that I would be losing my bottom back molar. I was pretty heartbroken due to an infection in the bone. As I was unsure who to go to ( my old endodontist is in Orland Park and was great, and my oral surgeon moved from the Neiman Marcus building), I asked Dr. Patel for his best recommendation. He provided 2. I looked up reviews, and one did not fare well in the review arena, but Dr. Thomas definitely did. I met with him this morning after an awful night’s rest. He was sweet and listened. He reassured me calmly. I had tears as I told the story of an awful experience I had with this tooth via an endodontist dentist in Orland Park. This tooth had a chronic infection in it. After reviewing all of the Xrays, Dr. Thomas said he could easily see the infection. I told him the thought of another needle in my mouth was overwhelming to me. He understood. He told his staff he would go slower than usual on my case. He numbed the exterior and then gave the shots to prepare for the removal. It was virtually painless. I kid you not. The actual extraction, he said, after reviewing the Xrays should take the tooth out in one piece. He was correct. There was a short bit of minor (very, very minor) discomfort until the tooth finally got yanked out. He was amazing. I am so grateful. He showed me the tooth and the bit of infection on it. Wow! Now, let me say this. His office does not accept any insurance, but they will bill for you. So, I thought that they did not take insurance because then they could charge double the price. But, nope. His bill was UNDER the allowance of what BCBS allows for tooth extraction. I could not believe it. It was thrilling. He was intelligent, pleasant, patient, clearly excellent at his profession, and he did not overcharge. Now, I need a new dentist and will consider the NWM dentist in the Galter Pavillion. (They are the same thing, they don’t accept insurance but will bill for you.) Thank you, Dr. Thomas and staff! All so friendly and understanding. I will continue to recommend you.
