I agree with the other commenters who would say it is a pretty basic office, but the prices are much less due to him not having a bunch of assistants to pay. I wanted my tooth pulled, but he wisely let me know that this molar was very important and would save the tooth with a root canal. It did take four visits, and for the first two my dental insurance was not in effect. I did have to pay, but they waited between visits until my insurance was active and now I have a credit that they are willing to refund if I choose. The work was impeccable he took the time on my final visit to make sure my bite was exact. He does do all the work himself, and I will make him my primary dentist since I can make Saturday appointments and not lose time from work. If you want a no-nonsense good dentist this is the dentist for you.

His work my teeth was fine but he argued with his assistant for 10 minutes about my insurance right in front of me. He didn’t want to even do my cleaning because he was unfamiliar with the insurance company but decided to go ahead and take a risk - his words. Then he complained about insurance companies for the first 10 minutes of the cleaning. I needed some work done past the cleaning and he said they would call me with a quote but that was three weeks ago and I haven’t heard anything back. He never asked if I minded paying out of pocket or offered to take a deposit that could be refunded when the insurance paid him. His poor assistant was mortified and tried to apologize for him. I still have a hole in my tooth and I’ll have to find another dentist.

Last year, I scheduled an emergency visit with a dental office in Overland Park. That dentist told me the problem tooth couldn’t be saved. She pulled up an x-ray on her laptop, pointed at the decay, and gave me the contact information for a oral surgeon who could pull it. That surgeon scheduled me for an appointment 3 weeks down the line despite how much pain I was in. I decided I could hold out until the appointment, but, a few days later, I was in so much pain I couldn’t talk and my boss told me to go home. I found Dr. Koshland’s office while looking up emergency dentists. He came to the complete opposite conclusion of the first person I saw. He held up a printed x-ray, pointed at the area around the decay, and said the tooth was in mostly good shape. He did a root canal instead of an extraction. The pain is gone and I still have my tooth. I made Dr. Koshland my main dentist after that. Their office isn’t as big or as high-tech as other dentists I’ve been to, but I trust them a hell of a lot more. To think, I almost lost a tooth with that other dentist...

The D.D.S. Koshland was very straight forward. I went to him in a lot of pain after a different dentist wouldn’t even give me a numbing shot. He did say the same thing the other dentist said, which was that my tooth can’t be pulled without an oral surgeon (they were going to have to put me under due to the severity and my deep roots). He gave me a good deal on a root canal, $400 cheaper than others, gave me good pain meds (7.5 percoset) . ALSO, this is the first time I can remember a doctor not trying to rush and me leaving with questions. He took the time to talk about all options. I will be going back.

I have been going to Dr. Koshland for years and he always does an excellent job. He is very thorough and patient. My teeth are always grateful to see him... even though no one likes going to the dentist.. ;-/
