Smile Direct Club

They literally just filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Probably why when I paid to have my aligners done they literally quit servicing me. I finished my first set and was unhappy with the results. I contacted them and they said I should have come in for a second assessment. Well they don’t tell you that part upfront. So I did go in and receive my second set of aligners. It got my teeth almost perfect. But then you have to continuously keep buying retainers, yeah they don’t tell you that either (also they just increased the price on) so your stuck in this never ending financial loop only to have your teeth shift back to its normal position over time. And they just say, "Sorry it didn’t work for you." Not worth it, at all. Don’t do it! *UPDATE* The owner responded with the most automated textbook comeback ever. I basically was just given the same response that I encountered the first time. Essentially proving exactly what I said, that all you get is a sorry it didn’t work and then gave me the boot. I could not be any more unsatisfied with the way this whole encounter was with this company. I would never recommend ever!

I had some simple fixes to make with an initial plan for 5-months of aligners. This was a much cheaper options compared to other companies, but you get what you pay for. If I had it to do over again, I would never have gone with Smile Direct. My smile has improved and I am happier with how it looks. But it’s still not at 100% and they can’t seem to fix it despite nearly 2 years worth of add on treatments. This after paying $2000. My biggest complaint is the retainers after treatment. When I signed on, they were $99 for one pair every 6 months. You HAVE to buy them at that price every 6 months in order to keep your smile guarantee (future free adjustments as needed). Then they raise the price to $125 per pair. If you want to keep your guarantee, you have no choice but to pay the increased price for the exact same product. What’s to keep them from continuing to raise the price? It feels like entrapment. And the aligners are cheap plastic that often have sharp or extended edges that you have to flie down so they don’t dig into your cheek or gums. I truly wish I would have payed a bit more for a better experience.

The service is a scam. My 10 month treatment plan has turned into 36 months and my teeth look terrible. The customer service is slow to respond and has been making empty promises. I wish I hadn’t cheaped out and had just gone through an orthodontist. Buy with caution. I’m out $2,500 and my teeth look just as bad as when I started. See my photo for proof.

I had a FANTASTIC experience as a first time customer here yesterday with Heather. Heather was so wonderful and we had such a pleasant time together laughing and talking as if we have known each other for years. She went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and had all of my questions answered. She was personable, professional, and very thorough with explaining everything to me on what to expect and the next steps. I feel extremely confident moving forward with Smile Direct Club and purchasing my aligners as all my concerns were eased after talking them through with Heather.
